Position the template over the slab and press it into the clay, using a misted Cool Slip to facilitate the process. You can use your fingers to press firmly around the design, or place an acrylic disc or work surface over the template shape and press firmly. Once the template is removed, use a needle tool to cut away the excess clay. A very fine needle tool can also be used to cut the shape directly, using the template edges as a guide, starting at the outside corners and cutting towards the inside corners for the cleanest cuts. Finally, remove the template and lift away the excess clay.
